I'd never have thought of putting grated cheese on top of cream cheese, glad it's giving you that much needed power for the slog at work though!

It looks like I'll be eating salmon dip on my bagels for quite awhile- I found my wife had bought FIVE containers of the stuff and stowed them away in our fridge! I was hoping to finish my current supply and go back to plain cream cheese with shredded cheddar! Sigh...

Ha! Bad luck, I bet your wife thought you'd be delighted to have your supply secured too. (Or maybe they were on offer?!) Oh well, oily fish is great for your joints, so maybe it'll help you at work even if you're dreaming about grated cheese while you eat it?

Don't you wish she'd just asked? That's how I feel when hubby buys a ton of something he thinks I like, without asking me, first.

My husband never does the food shopping, so this isn't a problem I have!

He was "helping" me again tonight. I asked him to open a jar of tomato sauce, which he did. Then, without asking, he added it th o what I was cooking. I only wanted half of the jar, but ended up with the whole jar. I hadn't added enough seasoning for the whole jar, so had to do that, when dinner should have been done. He keeps doing that, and I keep telling him to ask me before he does things, so I really yelled at him. He went over to Pigloo City and told the girls he was in trouble. I almost wet my pants laughing. He would have been a goner long ago if not for his humor, lol 🤗
The bear got our feeders last night. Could have been a lot worse. Our anti-squirrel stand withstood the attack, but he must pave tried to pull it over, as the whole thing is leaning slightly. He managed to slightly dislodge the ball of concrete underground, so Vic will fix that tomorrow we need to get more suet, but otherwise we're fine. A friend down the street had his feeder stand almost bent in half. We're back to taking in all the feeders at night and putting them out in the morning.

Don't you wish she'd just asked? That's how I feel when hubby buys a ton of something he thinks I like, without asking me, first. Sometimes it'd be nice, but this time she would have had no idea I was planning on diversifying my palate. Therefore, I'm just grateful she actually was thinking of me.

A very long time ago I was eating frozen yogurt as a dessert treat when I was a boy; my mother wanted us to try it as it was supposedly healthier. Eventually its popularity waned and you didn't really see it in stores anymore, but it seems to be making a comeback. I tried some a few weeks ago, and it was delicious! Pure chocolate, for starters. It was a refreshing change from ice cream, and my next choice was something called Twisted Dough (The brand is Kemp's) and there's a slight salty taste that rally complements the sweetness. I think I found my new favorite.

Sounds like they've found the secret of improving frozen yoghurt's popularity - put lots of chocolate and cookie dough in it!

Does it taste any different to ice cream - or have a different texture?

Does it taste any different to ice cream - or have a different texture? The texture is softer, and as far as taste goes, I would say that you really couldn't tell it wasn't ice cream. It feels like you're eating a different brand, but nothing too jarring to the palate.

That's a plus - no waiting for it to sit for a while before you can get the scoop in!

That's a plus - no waiting for it to sit for a while before you can get the scoop in! That reminded me- my grandmother used to have a technique for scooping overly-frozen ice cream- she'd run the spoon under hot water for a brief time. The heated utensil would cut through that dessert like a hot knife through butter!

We've used that trick too, but if you're serving a few people, you keep having to go back and do it again! My mum used to make ice cream when we were kids, and the high fruit content made it freeze really hard - we used to go out and play for an hour and then come back to it!

Did either of you ever use the hand-crank, fill the outside chamber with ice and let it slowly freeze the ice cream while you churn it-old fashioned ice cream makers? Someone in my mother's family had one, and used to bring to family get togethers. We'd all take a turn turning the crank, but it gets old really fast For kids who want instant gratification, it took forever. I think that's why people only used them when there were lots of people around to take turns cranking This is one recipe, sort of a basic recipe for making ice cream with sweetened condensed milk: www.allrecipes.com/recipe/63952/easy-homemade-vanilla-ice-cream/I don't see any reason why other things can't be added to it; frozen fruit, chocolate chips, even syrups from chocolate to fruits.

I imagine he got rid of it after realizing how much work it took to make something.

Saw this on TV, and tried it. A roll of Pillsbury pizza crust dough. Unwrap dough and cut it into equal sections. Roll each section into a ball. Frin about 1/2" of oil until golden brown. Roll in cinnamon sugar or glaze. These are rolled in cinnamon sugar. Very good. Not too sweet. They're like instant zeppoli or loukoumades. Bean, I don't know if you have tunes of pizza dough available, but if you can buy pizza dough, it should work the same way.
