I'm actually stuck on choosing a color Silly, I know, but I would like to color coordinate the cages, and have to settle on what colors to include. I have shades of pinks, purple, yellow, and red. Don't want anything too girly for Morty, lol So I really have to get to the fabric shop and decide. Right now we're trying to finish up projects to get the house refinanced and lower our monthly payments, so I figure after that, we'll get serious about making new pads.

I like a bit of coordination myself! There's a lot of blue in our living room, that's why I chose the star print. It's drying on the line now - think I will aim to put it on tomorrow when I change the cage, or at least get it to size.

I miss my clothes line, but so many people are into fabric softeners softening snd stinking up their clothes, they want dryers. Summers I always hung out the clothes.

My favorite clothes line set up had a roof over it, so I could use it rain or shine. Just not in the winter. Fingers got too cold!

That is ideal Piggleslove, that way it would also benefit from a breeze if there was one.

I love my dryer...I love my fabric softener I seem to be in the minority here While in Wyoming, I'm having to use a clothes rack to dry my clothes and it works fine. I think in Florida that it is just difficult to use a clothes line with all of the humidity. It takes forever to dry. Here in Wyoming it is very dry so things dry quickly. Hubby has taken over the duties on caring for the boys while I'm out of town. I love when he interacts with the boys while I'm on the phone with him. He gets them to make noises for me to hear them and gets Harry to purr. It melts this mama's heart. I think the boys are being fed more carrots that they really should eat, but I really can't complain with hubby's care of them. He is keeping Hogwarts clean, them fed, vitamin C given, etc. He even went out and got a plumbing pipe for them to play with. Harry's loving it so much that he spends a lot of time in it and got a very dirty butt as a result. Hubby gave him a little water only bath to clean the butt up. I'm really glad that hubby loves the boys too. If hubby gets to come out to see me, I'm not sure who we will get to pigsit. The friend who sat only Harry has a small space that I'm not thinking will work for two boys. The friend who sat both of them has some new responsibilities that have been monopolizing her time and isn't available.

Ah yes, those fantastic big plumbing pipes can be enjoyed a bit too much! In the past I've discovered a few damp tums from staying in them too long!
Sounds like hub's doing a great job - not just the essentials but entertainment and playing too. I'm sure they'll be delighted to have you back though - all of pigs and hub too!
Good luck finding a pigsitter if you do end up extending your stay and hub joins you. We have a few people who we trust to give our keys to and they pop in and feed and water them for us. Last time we went away it was midweek- midweek and with it being over 2 different weeks, everyone was away for one or the other week which caused me a bit of stress! Luckily my mum was happy to have them though.

I don't have anyone to pigsit. Hubby would do the basics. He might even do more, but hard to tell. If we both travel, the pigs have to come with us. Good reason for me to stay home!
I love the feel and smell of clothes dried outside on a clothes line. Can't have one hear at the condo, so I have a drying rack in a closet in the snug, and use the clothes hanging pole for all the hanging clothes. I don't run the clothes dryer and the a/c at the same time. Joy of growing up with a dad who worked for the electric company.

I have a dryer but it is always a point of contention when I want to put it on. Paul says it takes up lots of leccy (electricity) which it does, but what is the point of having it if we do not use it? I too love the smell of clothes when they have been on an outside line.

Update on Harry & Weasley... They remembered me after being gone for 4.5 weeks which I was thrilled about. Hubby did a wonderful job caring for them in my absence. When hubby joined me for a week, one of his co-worker's daughter watched them. She had wanted pets but after the responsibility of taking care of the boys she has decided that she liked having no pets. She is an 8th grader, so I can understand. Her mom wouldn't let her spend the night anywhere because of her responsibility to care for them. While I was gone, hubby found some more cubes at a thrift store. Yesterday, Hogwarts went under a conversion. Here are the pictures (part 1...part 2 in next post). The ramp is gone as I discovered that they just jump up and down to the second level.

Part 2 of Hogwarts update... Harry was the first to discover the third level. The boys love the revisions that I've done. I've almost doubled their floor space. They have great room to run around and get away from each other. When Weasley first realized what his new home was like, he started popcorning unlike I have ever seen before. He was zooming and jumping for quite a while. He was getting some pretty high jumps too. Attachments:

Second level looks great!
I love it when helping to look after our pets makes someone decide pets aren't for them! I'd much rather they had a taste of responsibility and found that out, rather than through getting their own. Of course I wouldn't leave them with anyone I didn't know would do a great job of temporary ownership, but lifetimes are entirely different.
Looks like the boys have been well cared for in your absence and glad they were so delighted to have you back too!

That looks fantastic love and I am so glad hubby did such a great job. I agree with you Bean about the responsibility, too many people buy on impulse and the poor little loves get neglected.

Wow! Fabulous cage upgrades! I'm not surprised the boys were excited. I'm glad you had fun making it I agree with Treen that it's so much better to find out about per care before you get pets. She may change her mind when she's older, but at least she'll hsve a good basis for deciding

Thanks everyone, however, I'm a tad frustrated with the new set up...okay, let me be more specific. I'm a tad frustrated with Harry. He has become a bully. He took over the first floor. This is really a problem because that is where the kitchen is. So I moved one of the hay bins and food bins upstairs, but the water is downstairs. Harry is chasing Weasley most times that Weasley tries to get any food or water. I then put a water dish upstairs too. This was fine until Harry decided to start using Weasley's water dish and food dishes. Now Harry just chased Weasley away from his own food and Weasley went into a pigloo that I had created a tunnel to get to it. Harry then decides to sleep at the entrance of he tunnel. Weasley is so spooked that whenever Harry moves to go near him, he runs away. Now I'm wondering if Harry misses Weasley and that he might not always be chasing him to chase him but that he is also trying to be with Weasley. Weasley, though has had enough and just runs whenever Harry gets near.
What am I to do?!?!? I've thought of making the upstairs a kitchen on each end. I don't want the kitchen downstairs as there is a lot of cover and I think that tempted Harry to be a bully.
HELP!!!

I had the same problem when I added a kitchen loft to a cage. I had to add an identical loft on the other end of the cage. That solved the problem. Bossy pig couldn't block both lofts at the same time.

How frustrating. Having a kitchen at each end might do the trick - although maybe they'll still both want to use the same one, you never can tell with pigs! As long as you have two of everything so you know that Weasley isn't being prevented from getting what he needs, at least you don't have to worry about that. I found larger hidden spaces seemed to encourage squabbling too - if they carry on getting on better for a while longer I might try it again as I liked having an extra area for them to explore.
It must be sad to see Weasley getting nervous though - what does Harry do if he catches up with Weasley? Cadders usually only chases Josh if he runs away - if Josh stops and doesn't start rumbling or trying to confront him, Cadders just usually loses interest. I think if Josh were a passive, meeker pig, Cadders would have felt secure in his alpha pig role and everything would have been a heck of a lot calmer!

That's always been a concern of mine, even though the rule of thumb was to leave them to it, unless blood was spilled. Bullying can stress a pig way too much, and be more damaging than a bite. I hope he's not too bothered. Putting the kitchen areas at opposite ends of the cage,.no matter the size of the cage, makes it impossible for the bully to control both areas. As long as both areas offer the same options, it doesn't matter if a pig claims one of the areas. I also found havingca loft on each end got the pigs zooming up and down from end to end in the cage. Not enough energy left to bully anyone, after super zoomies I miss that.

Great post piggles love. Being continually bullied for anyone is worse than one a slap (or bite). Thanks you for the great advice. How are things Silamb love?
