I cannot drink at all now hun because of all the meds I have to take but Iu sed to enjoy red wine a little too much if I am honest. I have heard tht too Bean love, don't add any wine to cooking that you would'lt serve with a meal and I think the only time I have not adhered to this is when I added sherry to a dish, it wasn't top quality but the dish was lovely.

Well you guys do make a good point about the wine! I think it was white wine I put in that chili, but I can't remember for sure. Bean, do you use white or red when you add it to chili? When I'm choosing which wine to buy, I usually go for something on the lower price end, but not the absolute cheapest there is. Cause, you know, well someone's going to have to drink the rest of the bottle after I add a cup or so to the sauce

I use red wine in chilli if I add it. Usually when I add red wine to bolognese etc I'm just using up the rest of a bottle some dinner guests haven't finished.
I rarely use white wine in cooking - I guess I think of it going best with chicken which I hardly ever cook as only half the house will eat it. When I make a pork stew, I really like it with cider in - although I never drink cider. And I use sherry for a few things but find dry works best in cooking and I like sweet to drink, so the bottle's safe in between meals! So really, I only cook with what I won't drink?!
EDIT: Oooh hello Margaret - lovely to see you and hope you are feeling well! Buy the Betty Crocker cake mix - my friend said she got it once and passed it off as her own and everyone still talks about what amazing cakes she makes haha! And well done to Eric, what a fab prize!

I have some standard wines I buy. Nothing expensive, but pretty decent. Took me a while to find reasonably priced ones I like, but glad I did.

We often buy wines on offer and have discovered a few of our favourites that way. So I keep a beady eye out for offers on the ones we like and stock up when prices are low which generally works out okay!

I think Paul does that love and sometimes there is a bargain. when we used to drink spirits however, we noticed how rarely they were reduced in price LOL!!
Nice day here today but a bit muggy. I had a coffee with a ocuple of friends from SW yesterday, it made a really nice change.

Sorry Margaret love, I meant to say I hope hubby has a great time at Gleneagles. Paul stayed there apparently when he had his own business - very nice but expensive.

Bought some chrome shelving yesterday. It will go in front of the slider this winter with plants on it. Best sun in the house, and it provides a pretty buffer between us and the neighbors, once the trees are bare. First killing frost upstate, so not long before it gets that cold here.

Almost freezing last two nights, could hit 80 tomorrow. We built the shelves today, to see how they needed to be spaced to get all the plants on. Plants are back outside, and we decided to add casters so we could move it. Should be a good outdoor week for the plants, but not too many good weeks left.

I hope the shelves look OK love, it is very hard to get my hubby to do anything DIY LOL!! We are going to get one of those things on castors that slip under heavy items, making it much easier to pull the item out for cleaning.

I would post a picture of the shelving, if I could figure out how to do it with Tapatalk. I've done it before, but can't remember how.

Uploaded to Photobucket, to solve the problem Once the plants are in for the winter, they will provide a curtain of leaves, so we can pretty much leave the curtains open. I wish I had done this years ago. I always brought them in on individual plant stands, and they couldn't all fit in the same footprint, so they took up half the dining room

I have the fairy or Christmas lights up year round, so they add a nice element to the scene. Really nice when the days are very short
