I have similar memories Piggles love. I remember coming out of school on our last day before christmas (usually the 21st Dec) and going to a church service. I went to a church school so it was always beautiful with the christmas tree and a nativty scene. I did enjoy the other side of it; presents and santa clause etc but it all seemed more equally balanced. I am just glad I can remember the times when it just wasn't about money.

I thought I'd changed the conversation to the weather?!

Lol We're having a spring day in the low 70s. Probably the last before Indian Summer. Leaves are really turning quickly. Hubby has a long weekend this upcoming weekend, and we're going to take a drive to the coast. We figure everyone else will head for the mountains to leaf peep He wants some good seafood, so we'll see what restaurants are still open. The a/c actually came on, so the piggies haveca good temp in their room That's not going to happen many more times, either. I'm starting to move the plants back inside before it gets too cold. We've had to cover them overnight a few times. I plan to cut the vines with green tomatoes on them, and ripen the tomatoes inside, too. Not sure about the pepper plant. Last ripe pepper was attacked by bugs, so I think that season is over. Trash day tomorrow, so I'm going to pull all the dead flowering plants, and get them bagged. Too periods of extreme work, getting everything outside or planted in the Spring, and inside or tossed in the Fall. I may get some fake Fall leaves for my railing planters, until it's time for the poinsettias to go out there for the winter.

Sorry Bean love, lost me there but we have just had a storm here and the little doggy next door was very upset. Our pets however weren;t bothered at all.

Interesting how some pets get really bothered, and others don't mind at all?

We've had a bunch of fireworks in the area with people celebrating Eid - because we're on a hill, we can hear/ see them for miles around. Anyway the buns didn't even seem to be registering it. I'll make sure to cover them over a bit more when it gets closer to bonfire night though as there are more likely to be ones going off a lot closer to us.
Jo, I was just joking that I kept talking about the weather to change the conversation topic away from 'you know what' - looks like it's worked now - go me!

I hope you get that sorted, Jo. Not good to be dragging through life What is Eids? Luckily we only have a couple of occasions for fireworks, and they're not allowed in the condo village, so not a problem for pets. We have a confined back yard surrounded by condos, so it magnifies the effects of thunder .

Eid is a Muslim festival/ holiday - there are actually two Eid celebrations each year. One falls after Ramadan (when Muslims fast during daylight hours for a month - not even water passes their lips while the sun is out - doing it is one of the five pillars of Islam) and is a big feast to mark the end of fasting which lasts several days. That was earlier in the year - it's always when it's really hot so the no water thing is a bit of a struggle for many... The second Eid is a festival of sacrifice - the story being some dude was originally going to sacrifice his son to show obedience to Allah but Allah gave him a sheep to sacrifice instead. So animal sacrifice is a major part of the celebration, especially in Muslim countries. Whose a little tinker then Bean - norty girl?!! Never fear, we wll bring it up again soon LOL!! No, sorry - you can't! That's it now until December - it's legally binding! Sorry you are feeling so tired though, Jo - do you think you've had a bit of a cold or something? There are loads of lurgies around now. How are you getting on with your dizziness, is it any better yet? Glad you had a nice morning with your friends anyway.

Ha ha Bean, I will be good from now on - promise (?) Thank you love for your concern. I don't have a cold but constantly feel as if I am going to get one., There are a lot of nasties about, several of our neighbours and friends are quite poorly.

Ha ha Bean, I will be good from now on - promise (?) I'll believe that when I see it, Jo! And probably not even then actually - I'll assume it's a smokescreen for some secret plot!

Sounds as if there's a bug going around, Jo. I hope you don't catch it. Several other UK friends have gotten colds/flu recently, too.

Some north American friends have the flu, already. Not looking forward to a bad flu year, especially with Ebola and the Enterovirus have some of the same symptoms.

There sure is something going around. I've been sick since Wednesday, spent most of Thurs and Fri either in bed or on the couch. Starting to feel much better but still have some congestion/cough. Weather's been pretty nice and sunny here last few days and it bugs me that I've been stuck inside doing nothing! And to top it all off, my big screen tv in my living room decided to break a few days ago...so I've been passing time watching stuff on Netflix on my laptop until I can get out to shop for a new one.

I'm so sorry about the illnesses going around. I guess that means more time to sit there and ponder Christmas (Bean, I threw that mention in for you....muah ha ha ha)
Friday night was date night. Hubby took me to Bonefish Grill for yummy pumpkin ravioli. They only sell it as a side dish so I ordered lobster grilled cheese with lobster bisque. The sandwich was weird so I plucked the lobster out and put it in my soup. The soup was yummy, but I could have made a meal of the pumpkin ravioli.
The date then headed to the movie theater to see Dracula, the untold story. (very good)
Saturday morning was a lazy morning and then we got busy in the afternoon. I posted under Harry's and Weasley's thread pictures of the final results of my work....Hogwarts got an addition.
Today after church we went out to eat with some friends...had another yummy fall meal of turkey cranberry sandwich.
Fall is hubby's and my favorite food time.
73 days till Christmas....

Weather here is definately autumnal which is lovely and cosy. Time for stews and cottage pies which I will be making soon.
