We have all season tires on our cars. We gave up on swapping the tires for snow tires. We always forgot until the first snow, and then we (and everyone else within 100 miles) weren't prepared. Studded snow tires are restricted to between certain dates, now, so if we get an early or late snow, we can't use them. All terrain/all season are just as good. Holdover from the 4x4s Hubby pretty much defeats my OCD needs, so if anything, just not totally losing it all over him is my biggest accomplishment. I also have a severely sensitive sense of smell. It's hard to explain, but candle and perfume shops can make me nauseous. Too many smells, and way too strong. I even have to hold my breath or cover my nose when I walk by someones dryer outlet, and they are using the scented dryer sheets. I know people think those things smell fabulous, but it all smells like a chemical waste dump, to me. I'm really glad you've gotten so much under control, and it's working for you

My friends say I have a permanent pregnancy nose. I can smell things long before other people do. Once I could smell a coworkers body wash or deodorant and I could only describe it as burnt oranges. He finally figured out what it was and orange oil was like the last ingredient. I told him he couldn't wear it at work anymore it drove me crazy. I've also saved a house from burning down when I was in college. My bf at the times stoner roommate put a pie in the oven and then left the house to get other snacks. I smelled it as it was turning black. No one else smelled it cooking even. I just knew it was cooking and then it was smelling burned. He's apparently started fires before doing stuff like that. Now he's in jail for killing his parents. Quality human being!

I like that permanent pregnancy nose description. Hubby can only smell a small percent of what I smell. He had a sweet smell that I found very cloying and distasteful. I pushed him to have the doctor test him for diabetes, and he was borderline. He's smelled much better since we changed his diet, but for a few days this week, when he was eating a lot of sugar, he started to smell that way again. The one time I was glad I could smell what no one else could smell. I do wish I could turn it off when I'm around perfume, though. That's why I started making my own shampoo and conditioner. I couldn't find anything that didn't have perfume in it. We're saving a fortune not buying shampoo and conditioner

I heard of another person with no sense of smell. Sometimes I wish I couldn't smell, but I'd miss the smells I really love. Hubbys dad was a hair dresser, and had to quit because of all the chemicals. I know I can't go in salons anymore, because of the chemical smells.

What ho gang! How's things?
Not much snow in our neck of the woods thankfully although my smugness was cut short with having a dead battery and then a flat tyre within 3 days of each other on the same car so we still had to power walk to school/work a couple of times in the icy wind. Roll on spring now I think, I'm a bit bored of being chilly!
Went to the cinema last night to see American Sniper... Not my usual choice of film but we had a last minute babysitting offer and a rare night when we were both not working so had to choose from the few films on offer in the timescale we had...not a bad film but a bit depressing and everyone was silent leaving at the end as it made you think! Might have to watch Despicable Me with Iz today to lighten the mood!

I have heard it is good love but I am like you, I don;t mind action films but I don't like them so depressing. I used to watch The Walking Dead but that got too much for me.

I've heard it's a great movie, but heavily serious. Despicable Me sounds like a perfect antidote. Great to see you on here

I want to see it but my brother is ex military sniper so not sure how hard it would hit me. I have a hard time with modern war movies because its too much reality for our family.

Oh bless you, when I see a war film I always think of families who have someone in the military.

I can totally understand that, bootygirl. I'd also be surprised if he went to see it. Did it and understands. Enough said.

Paul likes to watch war films sometimes which surprises me as he has seen some horrible things. They leave me cold though, I have never liked them.

It's above freezing, snow is melting, and I got some pictures of the snow outside our family room door. There is a yard stick in the snow, so that's 36". The scale is hard to tell, but there is about another 8" above the yard stick. Our roof is hung with icicles, and they are dripping onto the balcony and front steps. I have salt on both, as they had a lot of ice build up, especially the balcony. I shoveled the rest of the snow, and since the family room door is under the balcony, I know the ice and warm temps are melting the ice build up. I'll get out and either shovel it off or add more salt in a bit, as overnight temps are supposed to drop into the low single digits F, and by the weekend, the daytime temps aren't going to be much warmer. I don't want it all to refreeze. Once again, we put a length of Plexiglass along the balcony, just outside the door, and it's keeping the dripping water from running down the family room door, and freezing everything right outside the door. I can't salt outside the family room door, as the ground feeders would eat the salt. I am seriously thinking about getting a piece of fake grass carpeting to put over the whole balcony, and leaving it out over the winter, so we don't gouge up the paint as badly as we do. I repainted the whole balcony in May, and we've done so much damage to the paint job shoveling the snow, I'll have to do it all over again this May. After that, I want it covered and protected, and that fake grass carpet is so cheap, if I have to toss it at the end of each year, it won't cost my much. Hubby got to work okay this morning, as he works in Massachusetts, and most of Massachusetts is closed for storm clean up. He said there weren't many people on the road, and the main roads were fine. I even drove to Walmart, while the plow was clearing our parking area. Some parts of the back roads were nasty, but I did fine. I do miss my 4 wheel drive, though I ordered hubby a New England Patriots hat, as he's been wanting one, a winter one, and looking in all the stores. They only had one Super Bowl Champions hat, so he's getting it. Probably won't be here for Valentine's Day, but he'll know it's on its way. Daughter and family are off on a cruise to Mexico, in a couple of weeks. Definitely going to be a major weather change from here. I hope they have someone plowing out their driveway while they're gone, or they may not be able to get back in

That's a big pile of snow! It does look very powdery. Sounds like the weather is keeping you on your toes keeping it outside and the inside warm and dry.
Glad hub's drive was okay. You must be glad when he gets home safe and sound of an evening.
The cruise sounds lovely - it's certainly going to feel cold when they get back!

The pile was higher, as it was all light, fluffy snow, but the different temps and moisture contents have packed it down a bit. It is pretty good snow ball snow, now, but wasn't when it fell. Ran out of salt, and had to get more. This cycle of snow, freezing, melting, repeat doesn't seem ready to move on, so we have to keep the front steps and balcony salted, to prevent the ice from getting out of control. Hubby bought three more bags of salt, and refilled all the shaker containers, so we're set for the next round. Yes, I am definitely relieved when he finally gets home. It took him over 90 minutes last night, though he wasn't sure why. Traffic snarled in one spot, and it just took forever to get through it. Not much he can do about it. Hubby is getting new tires on his car Saturday, as we are getting our taxes done, and it's supposed to start snowing while we're doing that. He got his car serviced last Saturday, and they told him his tires were getting toward needing to be replaced. I'd rather drive a long distance in snow with brand new tires, than with tires that are getting thin. Oh, goody, it's snowing again. We get several days of gloom, then a day of brilliant sunlight that blinds me, lol. At least my little squirrel buddies are enjoying the snow pile. They romp up and down it, taking nuts and running off with them, running over the doves trying to eat the seed. I see these flashes of fur go by, then a squirrel pops up by the door Great entertainment!

I tried to get a picture of a squirrel sitting in the snow in the back yard, but missed the opportunity. He looked as if he grew out of the snow, lol I put out extra food today, as it's very cold and blustery. Thanks to the snow mound, the feeding area gets a bit of protection from the winds and blowing snow.
