I bet there are some brilliant places for fancy footage in the city, but practising in your backyard sounds perfect for now. Hope you can get the some of the computer issues ironed out as you spend more time using it.
Not in the league of your camera, but I was telling my parents about some mystery creature digging pretty deep but narrow holes in a certain area of the grass. I don't think it's squirrels. They reminded me I have a garden camera, so I'm aiming to remember to put that out tonight, see if I can identify the culprit!
There's usually a way to contact the app creators and tell them the app keeps crashing. It may be happening to most users, and there may be a fix for it. It's worth checking, if you haven't, already.
I agree starting with videos you already have and improving on those is more efficient than taking new videos just to keep up with app Joneses. You purpose in doing this is to learn, not to show off. There's plenty of time for that once you learn what you need to know, and perfect your processes

I'm stoked about being able to practice with the camera, especially since the 10' collapsible selfie stick arrived today! This means I can get the camera closer to edges of cliffs without endangering myself. It also means I can get SUPER-high shots, almost as good as having a drone since the camera is wide-angle at all times.
I'll try to get a few more practice shots in and post them here.
The camera screws into the selfie stick, so that should assure me that it's not going to fall off provided I tighten it properly.
I need a way to do wide angle on my cell phone, but the add-on wide-angle lenses aren't very stable. They need to attach to the phone better. Too bad I can't justify a fancy camera like yours, but my photographic skills are best suited for a good cell phone Enjoy, and don't fall over the cliff

I keep reading about attachable lenses for cameras, and wish they'd come up with an equivalent for my DSLR model. They do have them, but such lenses cost a few thousand and I'd prefer something in the low-hundreds range. I do have a wide-angle and a diopter which helps me get in super-close, but I'd love an anamorphic lens which would give me a cinematic widescreen look. (I can fake this to a degree already, but I'd like the real deal if I could afford it.)
We didn't pay low hundreds, even, and the lenses were good, but they were loose when attached to the phone, so we couldn't keep the lens where we want it. We may look into a better one, but it would have to guarantee a tight fit, or I'm not paying anything for it. If I had a wide-angle lens, I could get more piggy pictures. My cage is long enough to not fit into a regular picture. My photography needs don't rival yours, lol

A third friend went with us but he chickened out at the last moment and didn't go. That was a shame, since he was wearing another camera for us to grab footage. The bulk of the shots came from my camera, along with a handful of shots from Ken's phone. Still, not too bad of a product.

Wow! Love the special effects. I realize they were all parts of the video, but you did some cool things with them. There's one shot where I think the thing you sit on was being pulled in, but it looked like a flying saucer

Yes, I realized this particular project was off-the-cuff and lacked a lot of video coverage, so I decided to make it more of a montage music video with effects that didn't necessarily make sense but gave it a sense of fun. Ken is also a huge Star Wars fan (like me) and wanted a picture of himself "using the Force" on that replica helicopter- I shot video of it and used that in the video as well. He didn't know I had done it, so it will be a nice surprise when he sees it.
That was definitely a flying saucer and was also definitely added in later.
Great video, and entertaining special effects too! It looks like a fun day at a brilliant place. I loved your expressions the time you set off facing backwards!

I'd done it before, so I wasn't frightened- but I knew I was on camera so I played it up for the shot and also the people watching, as we had a bunch of newcomers to the activity. I wish it wasn't overcast, as that gloomy sky made it somewhat depressing. Still, I enhanced the colors in the footage during editing to make things jump out a bit more.
A sunny sky would have been wonderful, but would also have made it hotter for us- so there is an upside to the overcast sky.
Aha! It was a flying saucer! I saw it, and thought it must be a disc to sit on for the run, lol That was fun, especially having to pay attention to every little thing with all the changes

Great stuff! Some super shots and the foliage is stunning. It's really interesting not being able to see the pole and the picture being so steady, but then being able to see the shadow of the pole when it's sunny.
I'm confused by the bit at the end, where you're walking round on mini earth with massive trees - how's that happening?!
Love the voila' effect of the spinning pictures. I could think of lots of things to do with that effect I also loved you walking on the world up in the tree, at the end.
The color was fabulous. Too often it gets muted or changed by the camera. Not there I also loved the vultures. You got the light on their undercarriages to show they aren't just dark birds circling in the sky You also got their fingers really well That's a great camera! What kind is it, again?
You have some great effects. I hope, when you're ready, you'll make a collage of all you know how to do, so you can submit it to potential jobs If they're even a fraction as impressed as I am, they'll hire you

In one shot near the beginning, you can see the pole bending slightly with the wind, so if it's not 100% straight it shows up.
That trick shot is called a "tiny planet" effect- the camera is shooting in all directions, and I'm walking in a circle around it. Then, you choose the angle of the lens in the desktop software, and in the tiny planet option you squeeze it all into a circle. I see this all the time in people's videos, and was initially dismissive of it as a gimmick- but being able to track a subject and rotate the "planet" makes it far more interesting instead of a static shot.
3piggles, we used no fewer than four cameras on our short trip! My new Insta360 does the trick shots, I also had my old GoPro shooting in 4K on a mini-Steadicam mount (most of it was used in the car and on the beach) I also had my standard Rebel T3i camera which only shoots in 2K, but is still acceptable. (I used this camera to shoot footage of the birds, as I can change lenses as needed.) Ken also was shooting stills and a few video clips in 6K with his new iPhone.
To be honest, I also used a few filters on the video clips to bring out the colors a bit more. The still photos were left untouched and should represent the colors as seen, but I like to play with the video to enhance the experience. I figure as long as I'm not radically altering anything (like digitally replacing an overcast sky with a sunny one) all I'm doing is tweaking the image to produce "beauty" shots.
It's great you have a friend who enjoys all this stuff as much as you do - a good excuse for some fun outings!
I meant to mention the vultures too, I really liked that bit. Not a sight you'd see over here!
Ken was exhausted after trying to make the climb and kept joking about how the vultures were circling overhead for him. I was trying to shoot the footage, and I kept laughing so I didn't get as much as I would have liked.
