I am glad you are having a nice spell of weather Piggles love, it isn't too bad here today either. I hope the nematodes do the trick, they sound like some sort of scientific device lol.
I am glad you had a lovely holiday Bean hunni, we have all been thinking of you. I bet you have a gorgeous tan.

Will do with the nematodes, Bean Hubby said we aren't supposed to use them in the garden until after the harvest, so it may be a few weeks before we spread them. I really hope they will stay in the soil long enough to keep the grubs from moving back from the neighbors yards, as soon as the neighbors spread their grub killer. I'm sure the veggies will be happy to have you all home, Bean. I'm glad you had a nice trip, and everyone got there and back safely. Nice memories

The part of Spain we visited was really nice. Our apartment was a little bit further out from the main tourist bits, so we felt more immersed in the culture than if we'd been totally among the sunburnt Brits! We hired a car so we could still easily visit the popular areas, but then retreat to peace for most of it.
I have a quite a nice tan thanks, Jo. The kids are healthily sunkissed, but they're fairer than me and it was so hot - I really didn't want them to burn, so they were rarely out of factor 50! My husband barely looks any different, as he ended up being covered or in the shade for most of it to try to ease his prickly heat rash!
I don't think the cucumber plant was quite robust enough to weather the slugs, but everything else seems okay. It's been quite cool though, so no amazing output levels in my absence. I'll have a proper scout around the garden later and see what's what!

It is lovely if you can have some peace on holiday Bean hunni and you are well away from all the noise. I am glad you have a nice tan too without burning first, that is usually what happens to me and then I go a lovely golden brown. Mind you, it is that long since I have been on a beach Prickly heat rash is awful, I have had that too. In my younger sillier days I also stayed out in the sun for too long and made myself poorly. Silly me lol! I hope everything is well in your garden Bean sweetie, everyone growing in it is probably very pleased to see you Hugs JO xx

I'm not sure what I'm going to do about my job. I'm not experienced enough to get a better job, but all the less-demanding jobs also have a drastically lower pay rate, too. I'm willing to take a small pay cut to start over, but not a large one.
Can't go back to the film.video world, either- every place requires a demo reel, and I have nothing to show. (I can't show any of my vids, they are looking for a portfolio of professional vids like corporate & industrial shorts, commericals, etc.)
I'm debating on how much trouble I want to stir up at work- my co-worker is definitely not doing his job. My manager is covering up for him and refuses to crack the whip. I can complain to the owner, but I wonder if that will affect me negatively (will my manager retaliate? His lack of action is making him look bad, but it's also creating more work for him because he's running around and hiding Mr. Crybaby's mistakes.)
The owner mentioned a dead animal on the premises last Tuesday, a building not on my list to maintain. I went there on Friday to complete a work order and had to listen to tenants complain that the only time the building gets cleaned is when they complain, instead of a regular cleaning schedule. Also, the dead animal was still there so I picked it up and it had been there so long that it broke into pieces when I handled it!
The owner gave us a lecture about two weeks ago on how we need up our game in cleaning the buildings, this kid apparently doesn't care.

Oh, sweetie, I am so sorry. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place. It makes me so angry when people get away with being like this and the one doing all the work suffers. I can understand your not wanting to take a drastic cut in salary when looking for another job who would. I just wish there was something I could do to help you or make a sensible suggestion. Is there anyone higher up you can complain to? Yuk, I am sorry you had such a nasty experience with that dead animal too, I shouldn't have been you who had to dispose of it. Please keep us informed hunni.

That sounds rubbish - why on earth is the manager covering for him? Do you have team meetings where you can ask for clarification (written if possible!) of your roles and responsibilities so that everyone is there when there's a conversation about who should be doing what - then any further problems can be referenced to that? That's so tricky if your manager doesn't seem willing to stand up to the lazy oik though, and it could make things less pleasant for you if people are miffed about being called on not doing their jobs properly.
I remember one awful manager at a place I worked (not mine directly, but his manager was also my manager). I couldn't understand why she was letting him get away with awful behaviour - he was lazy, inappropriate and incompetent. Then it turned out my manager was having an affair with the manager of a company we used for repairs (which is probably why they got the contract, despite not being great). This other manager had found out and was basically holding it over her. Ugh! I was glad to get out of there. They also tried to get me to take someone else's job while they were on maternity leave, with the plan to squeeze her out, and were down on me for not being ambitious because I wanted it all to be up front instead of sneaking myself in. No wonder I like being self-employed!
It would be great if there were some way to get into the industry you're so passionate about.
Jo, the grass has definitely been growing very nicely, so the pigs had a great afternoon out on it yesterday!

Too bad about the cukes, Bean. Maybe they'll rebound. Fingers crossed! Baz, I have been where you are, between a rock and a hard place. If you lose this job, you don't have a lot of other good jobs lined up, so you hold your peace, but get abused in the process. I hope there are at least some options, whether it's presenting the situation to the manager, and demanding better pay for doing two people's jobs, or discussing it with the manager to get someone esle in to do Mr. Crybaby's job, but I totally understand you not wanting to risk the job you have. Hugs Bean, your lawn should be really healthy by now, and just think, you didn't have to do anything to get it that way except to go away on vacation We've had some absolutely fabulous weather, which is really rare for August, any part of August. Temps have been in the 70s during the day, and down into the 40s and 50s overnight. Also very dry, so while we have to water the lawn and gardens a lot, it's been great sleeping weather, and we've had the a/c off more than on. We turn it off around 7 p.m. last night, after only turning it on around 3 p.m., and it hasn't come back on yet today. I know we'll have some hotter days, but I am really enjoying these cooler ones. I went out to bike at 10 this morning, and it was still only in the 60s, so fabulous for biking around the neighborhood. I bike a bit harder when it's cool. We're also getting out to bike after dinner some nights, and hopefully will be able to do that more and more!

That sounds an awful place to have been Bean hunni, it is like something out of a novel. Perhaps your lawn was so pleased to see you it became suddenly healthy lol! I am glad you are having nice weather Piggles love. Yesterday was unbearably hot but today, thank goodness is much cooler.

Temps managed to get up to 68F today, with mostly overcast skies. It was great being able to take my time with my coffee and breakfast, and still be able to get out to ride my bike without it being hot. Not supposed to get hot again until Monday, and even then it might get to 80F. We might get some remnants of Hurricane Harvey, if it ever leaves Texas, and there's another tropical depression that might turn into more, but that's expected to go out to sea and miss us, so just a few miscellaneous chances of rain in the next week.
Had a strange conversation with a neighbor, when I was out biking this morning. I think he might have dementia, but he's a nice guy, so I just kind of went along with him. He said he had a book for me, and would drop it off next time he stopped by. He's never stopped by, and we never talked about a book, so I think he thought I was someone else. I just thanked him for thinking of me, and left it at that. He has a sweetheart of an old chocolate Lab girl, who just loves me, so she always comes running over to see me when I'm biking. He rambled on about her, his wife and water, too, so I just made the most of it, and said I really had to finish my biking regimine. Sad to see people getting to be that way, but he's in a good place. Most of us are home during the day, so if he started to wander, we would see him, stop him and talk to him.

I am so sorry to hear about Hurricane Harvey Piggles hunni and the devastation it is causing. My heart really does out to the victims, human and animals. Your neighbour sounds a sweetie and it is great that he is in a community who cares and will help him if he gets himself into trouble. Doggie sounds wonderful too.

I hope the chap just made a mistake rather than it being indicative of a mental decline - that's so sad. It's great he's in a place with people who all look out for each other though.
I go swimming with my dad and there are two guys there who look pretty similar (small, bald and very tanned) and they even swim in a similar way (not many people do butterfly!). They've never been there at the same time. I don't do more than say hello to them, so it doesn't matter I can't tell the difference (one of their tans looks a bit more orange than the other!), but my dad chats to them more in the changing room. He has, on a few occasions, tried to carry on a conversation with one of them, that he's actually had with the other one the week before! They probably think he's a bit daft but it gives us a chuckle!

Not at all sure about his condition, but as I said, he's known in the neighborhood, so he'll be okay. This is a 55+ community, and I've met a few others who weren't all there. I asked one woman where she lived, and she didn't seem to know. She was with her daughter-in-law, so she was safe. The wife of another couple said her husband gets very forgetful, which is one reason they moved here. She likes being where neighbors look out for each other. Also, since we can do gardening and landscaping, there are things to do at home to keep him busy. I see that husband out putzing about in his yard regularly. He seems to always be happy, which is nice. We have another hurricane forming, Irma, so we may have some days when we don't have to water the garden and lawn I've heard that Harvey is heading inland, where he will die a natural death. Texas will be cleaning up for a really, really long time. Last report I heard the Houston area had received over 51" of rain. Depending on how much water was upstream to come down and flood, the flood line might have gotten even higher. I don't know if it made the international news, but Joel Osteen, who is a televangelist preacher with a TV show and a church that seats at least 16,800 people, and is in a neighborhood right at the edge of Houston, didn't open the church doors to refugees until he was called out on it, and then tried to lie about why he didn't. Saddest part is his followers are so busy trying to buy their way into heaven, they'll follow him despite his totally unchristian act. Sad commentary on the mentality of such a large percentage of our population

That is so nice and kind of them Baz love, I hope it is well remembered. It is years since I have been swimming Bean love and I do really enjoy it. The trouble is now I am embarrassed in a swimming costume and haven't plucked up the courage to go for years. I am glad you are enjoying it though. I am sorry t hear that Hurricane Irma is on its way piggles hunni, when is it going to stop? I agree about Evangelists, they are a pain in the rump and often very hypocritical.

I can't get my head around the amount of rainfall they've had in such a short time. It's devastating. We had bad flooding in my area a couple of years ago and that was just from a fraction of this sort of rainfall.
It's great to see the people who do want to help others and how people can come together in a crisis - I guess those who aren't than nice anyway aren't always going to change because of an emergency, but it's sad to see. I heard about the curfew because a minority of people are taking advantage of the fact that so many homes are empty and looting. Despicable behaviour.
I'm sorry you would like to go swimming but have been put off. Jo. I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid at you at our pool - it's just as much about being social and just doing what bit of exercise you can, it's not all intense sporty types taking over. I'm going today, my first swim since getting back off holiday and I must say I'm not looking forward to it at all! I'm sooooo very tired - a busy month has well and truly caught up with me this week! The kids are out today and at my mum and dad's tonight though, so I can can do nothing but veg afterwards!

I used to love to swim, but with this stupid perfume allergy, it's not hard to go into groups of people and not have problems with someone setting off my allergy. Same with restaurants. I don't have a figure to show off in public, either, but at my age, I really don't care what people think of it. I have very loose bathing suits I actually use for tops in the summer when it's really humid. Good enough. I'm sorry you feel reluctant to go to a public pool in a bathing suit, Jo. I really doubt you would stand out as much as you think. A perfect body is a rarity. Even pretty good bodies are. Most people are too tall, too short, too thin, too fat, etc., so in general, we're a mixed bag of shapes and sizes, none perfect. I don't even think cosmetic surgery would give me a perfect body. I would still only be 5'2" Yes, it's really nice to see people helping their neighbors, but I'm afraid once this crisis passes, the white supremacy mentality will return, and the helpfulness will be forgotten. I don't know how well Hurricane Katrina was reported overseas, but the NH National Guard, my national guard, was on site in New Orleans before president Bush acknowledged there was even a problem in New Orleans. NH isn't anywhere near New Orleans, yet we knew about it and responded, before he bothered to even acknowledge it. His supporters loved him anyway. The Mexican government also sent soldiers, engineers and others to help out in New Orleans and the surrounding area, before Li'l Georgie Bush managed to send a FEMA representative to view the destruction, yet now, 45 wants to build a wall to keep out those horrible people. So soon they forget, eh? At least all of the helpers will get recognized by others, who will share their stories all over the news and social media, so they will be applauded. Joel Osteen is apparently getting reemed on social media for his actions. Muslims came to the rescue, while the christians kept their doors closed.

I heard Mexico has formally offered to help with funding the help for the victims of Harvey, and that Trump himself hasn't even responded to their offer yet. Nice touch given all the hot air he's been blowing their way about paying for his wall.

You are probably right Piggles love, once I had been the once it wouldn't seem so bad but I just can't pluck up the courage to go in the first place. There are few perfect bodies around and I am not tall either more's the pity. I was always brought up to think that men liked little girls but there is all this fuss now about long legs and how much men like them!! It gets on my nerve to be honest. It would be so nice if this put an end to hostile segregation and everyone started to get on but we all know that isn't going to happen. As for Christians keeping their doors closed, why does this not surprise me?
Thanks, for your encouragement Bean love and I hope you enjoy your first swim. I always felt nice and relaxed when I had had a swim and very hungry too. Apparently, at our baths they sell snacks afterwards including cheesy chips of all things, which I think rather defeats the object lol! I am glad you will have the chance to relax afterwards lovey and you have a peaceful day to look forward to.
