We have very changeable weather, Jo, and while it has its highs and lows, it also has a lot of middles. No single digits overnight last night, but I have pools of ice on the windowsills in the bedroom, where the window was open overnight. For me, any temp much above 70F makes me start to swell. We don't have to be in the triple digits for it to effect me. I get uncomfortable about the where everyone else gets comfortable. By choice, I would keep the temps in the 50s and 60sF, but that's not possible, unless I live in San Francisco. Can't afford to live in SF! We're having all of the weather this week, single digits for a few days through Monday, 20s/30s today with snow moving in overnight, 30s until this weekend when temps could get into the 50sF with rain. Welcome to New England Normal weather isn't really worth mentioning

Oh it's vile weather here - really windy and alternate snow and freezing rain. The next couple of days look pretty grim too, with gales and freezing rain. I might hibernate!
I went swimming with my dad yesterday (he gives me a lift there and back) and I asked him to bring me half a dozen tea bags from his cupboard to save me going out to the supermarket as it's been so horrid! I have everything else in but didn't want to be without a cuppa on the cold, dark mornings!

Ooh, yucky weather! Glad you have your tea bags. Not fun to have to go out in that mess just for tea bags. We're having bright sunshine, which is really nice. It won't last, but it's nice for now. Snow, then clearing, then rain, then clearing, then snow, lol Glad you got to go swimming. It must be fun to go with your dad. I like to have someone to go with, or I tend to not go. Hubby and I have talked about joining a health club, once he finally retires. If nothing else, we'll probably go to the senior center, which usually has some workout equipment. Of course, we'll bike indoors and out Too bad there's no place to swim around here.

Going swimming with my dad definitely makes it less likely either of us will skive off!
The senior centre sounds good for when hub retires - a bit of exercise and getting to say hello to a few people. It's all good activity that keeps you active and involved with your community.
We had snow here overnight. Gales today and more snow overnight. I'm only going out when I absolutely have to! Glad you''re getting a bit of sun, that bit of brightness really does lift the spirits after grim weather!

It seems you do Piggles love, it must be really hard to make certain plans. We can't here either, we have to wait for the actual day to see if it is going to be OK as the predictive weather forecast is frequently wrong also.
We have had some dreadful weather haven't we Bean sweetie, today is sunny though but very cold. There has been a mix up with our heating company and there was no heating this morning and it is so cold? It is the little ones I am worried about so everyone has had extra hay. I am glad you enjoyed your swim too love and I agree, you can't beat a cuppa on a cold day. Tracey is back and she has made me a nice cup of coffee which is sitting here with me now. I would like someone to go swimming with too Piggles love but I am so embarrassed about my figure I think I would have to have the pool all to myself and we all know that isn't going to happen lol!

Ooh, did Tracey have her baby? How is the blood clot in her lung doing? I'm so glad you have her back to talk to, and to clean for you. Unless a man is a clean freak, I don't think men ever clean to the same standard women do. Could be wrong, but never met one who did. This should help hubby feel a bit less burdened by having to do her work as well as his own!
Since I learned that almost half the population, and more than half of the people in my area, voted for a man who made fun of the disabled, said he would sexually assault women on the street, and is systematically destroying families of illegal immigrants whose spouses and children are Americans, I don't feel safe going out without hubby, anymore. I'm not fast or strong anymore, and it makes me feel very vulnerable.
I had a friend with MS, and she said she just couldn't fight the battles she could fight when she was younger and much more healthy, even telephone battles. I understand, as I can't really put much force behind a threat to take action, between my back and the mentality of hatred and violence in this country.

As much as I totally understand your worries about your country, I do comfort with myself that almost all the people I know personally who live in your country are lovely, caring and intelligent people. Sure, these are tough times, but there are also so many people rising up against abuse and inequality, and states that are really paving the way on crucial issues of our time such as climate change.
We have similar issues in our country - nothing like having that buffoon as a president, but still troubling leadership, and movement that goes against things I believe strongly in.
I honestly think that in a generation's time, things will change massively as the younger people who have grown up more worldly and open-minded are going to have more power and I think they will (on the whole) make different choices. There'll always be different views around, many of which you may find abhorrent. But it's only when those views become the majority or are in leadership, that it seems impossible.
Anyone else do the biggest cringe ever at Trump's statement this week 'I am the least racist person!'? Its good to have a cushion to hand when he pops on the news (so you can hide your face, I'm not quite ready to consider smothering myself over him yet!).

She is due in February Piggles hunni ar8und valentines day I think. Apparently, she has been told that the clot on her lung should go away by itself. I don't understand that for a minute but then I am not a doctor. No, you are right about men and cleaning Piggles hunni, they are all dust blind for a start. The only once to have super clean homes are gays, the ones I have known have been spotless.
I think you are right about the young people of today doing a better job than we Bean hunni. I certainly hope so. Between Trump and Theresa May, I sometimes think we are ......!!!!

I hope you are right about the young people, Bean, but it seems as if a large percentage of them don't even bother to vote. They have a lot of opinions, but don't do anything about it. The people who are trying make change are still the people of my generation, 50-70 years old. We are still the loudest. I will feel better, when I see more women of younger ages taking to the streets, holding picket signs, and marching for women's rights. Also, being in Trump country, almost 70% of the voters in this and surrounding towns voted for a man who said he would walk up to a woman on the street, and grab her crotch/ who mocked the disabled/ who promised to get moochers(elderly and poor) off of Medicaid, Medicare and social security, I don't feel safe going out alone. I have pepper spray with me, just in case, one in my purse, and one in my bike bag. I shouldn't have to feel that way Yes, there are a lot of really good people, and they didn't vote for the Dumpty. Less than 50% voted for him. Our electoral college, which is comprised of party member in each state who are delegates and super delegates(not sure what makes some super), got him elected. Same happened with li'l Georgie Bush. He couldn't get elected on the popular vote, but the large states with mostly republican delegates voted him into office. I understand the feeling elderly people get, of not being out after dark, not going to unfamiliar places, and not going out alone. Add being disabled in any way, and it's worse. We need to be able to trust the people around us, and thanks to this vote, we don't know whom to trust Jo, I hope Tracey's labor and delivery go off without a hitch! I don't know enough about blood clots to understand why the doctors think it will go away on its own, but they should know. I hope it does!

Another of the Dumpties staffers has resigned. This time over racist, sexist, bigoted comments he made on a radio show in the past. Wow! I couldn't believe how that guy ranted on and on about how right he was to be a racist, sexist, bigoted pig, and how everyone else was wrong! He's just like the Dumpty, who definitely surrounded himself with his own kind, in the federal government. At least, for one reason or another, they've been dropping like flies since shortly after the Bigly D became president!
Theresa May is a real trip, but Nigel Farage is you Trumpty Dumpty. What a winner. Getting people all into Brexit, all into no longer having anyone telling them what to do, and no longer having to let all those foreigners into the UK. At least Nigel isn't trying to build a wall to keep out the people he doesn't want in his country.
The stock market has been doing quite well, so I'm sure the republicans are claiming credit, and saying it's all because they're making America great, again.

At least Farage doesn't have any power here, even if he did get everyone stirred up over Brexit. Even when he was leader of his party, UKIP have never got close to getting peoplee to take them seriously.
I think since he stepped down, his party is on their fourth leader? The current leader is in the news after his girlfriend (a glamour model 20 years his junior, who he left his wife of many years for) was called out for sending some racist texts about Meghan Markle polluting the pure royal blood line and how all black people are stupid (obviously not an educated lady, since there are already plenty of other nationalities in the family's ancestry). Pressure's mounting on him to stand down now too, they're a doomed party without the 'personality' of Farage.
The new book about Trump has been on the news here. Sounds like some pretty damning and embarrassing stuff, but thoroughly predictable at the same time as he's clearly incapable of doing the job. And we all know that however bad the revelations are, he'll just waft it away and carry on with an air of arrogance - nothing seems to touch him, however bad.

He is a major embarrassment, that's for sure, but what's even more embarrassing and frightening is the number of people who support him, and who feel exactly as he does, or worse. I've always known there were some truly ugly Americans, but I didn't know how many, or how ugly We have laws against so many things, but can't get through to the people to make them accept other people The Dumpty administration is also protection medical workers who refuse to treat anyone who violates their religious beliefs. So doctors and nurses can refuse to treat LGBTers, save a woman's life if that requires an abortion, prescribe birth control even for medical reasons. It's outrageous! I think the American Civil Liberties Union is going to challenge it in court. I certainly hope so. They have already issued a statement about the fault they find with the new approach of forcing one groups version of religious freedom, on everyone. That's what the religious right has been trying to do for year, and they've gotten worse, as more and more candidates play up to them, like Li'l Georgie Bush was elected for two terms on the promise of putting the Lord's Prayer back in the schools. The separation of church and state banned prayer in the public schools because either the time had to be spent to say every prayer for every religion present, or no prayers were said at all. That didn't change, but the religious right elected him twice I caught a cold, so I'm walking wounded today. I'm taking cold meds, so hopefully it will pass quickly. Just not feeling my best, so really glad I did a lot of cooking when I could, and only have to reheat some things. Hubby can do that

I didn't know that about medical staff being able refuse to treat particular people, refuse to do certain procedures or prescribe some medications. That is outrageous. I suggest that if your personal beliefs compel you to discriminate and judge, you don't take jobs where doing things you don't believe in is part and parcel of the job? It's ridiculous and so backwards.
Sorry you've succumbed to a lurgy. I hope it passes without too much inconvenience. We've got one in our house at the moment - no one's feeling awful, just a bit 'urgh!' and lots of coughing at night! Hope hub looks after you and get well soon! x

It is down to the Tory government that we have had our benefits cut. They always do this because they do not care about ordinary people. Sorry ladies, I do not keep up with politics as you do.
I have a lousy cold too but I feel it would be much worse if I hadn't had my flu jab. We will just have to comfort each other Piggles hunni by sending vibes over the puddle LOL!" I am glad you haven't caught it Bean sweetie as I believe it is a particularly nasty one if you have had no immunisation. Is it in your area?

You definitely have my sympathy, Jo, and so do you and yours, Bean. I just have a cold, but since I have arthritis and other issues, it is causing pain I don't need. I'd love to be able to breathe through my nose, lol It's totally underrated! I'm also going through rolls of toilet paper rather quickly, as I use it to blow my nose, constantly, lol I'm hoping to feel a whole lot better tomorrow! I hope you are, too, Jo, and your family is, too, Bean.

Thank you Piggles hunni, I woke up this morning and it is worse. I have a bad cough and a very painful chest. I hope you are better now too Bean sweetie.
Another thing I don't like about having a cold is that the continual blowing of it makes it sore inside and out. Even the softest tissues sometimes don't work.

Oh what a diseased bunch we are! Sorry you're both feeling lousy, and I hope the lurgies leave you soon.
A few of my friends had flu a few weeks back, Jo. But haven't heard of any new cases since then so hopefully it's peaked in our area, and will go away without bothering us! It's just colds doing the rounds at the moment, and they're a pain, but not too bad if you're otherwise healthy.
UKIP took a vote of no confidence in the leader who's been in the news for his new, young girlfriend sending racist texts. He's refusing to stand down though, so now a few others from his party have resigned in protest at having to serve under him - it's a farce! I'm sure they'll be on leader number 5 (I think?) within two years very soon!

Thank you Bean sweetie, I still feel lousy I am afraid and I have the most dreadful cough. I have had my flu jab but apparently, that doesn't stop you from getting a cold. This is spreading like wildfire around here and I thought I had escaped it but once Paul showed symptoms, so did I. His has nearly gone but mine is lingering.
