That's good it's free - of course if some groups come forward more than others, that's a different matter to address, but knowing being protected isn't just related to income is definitely a good thing.

I was watching something on Tudor England, and apparently when Henry VIII had the monasteries destroyed, it took away all the feeding of the poor, health care and jobs the monasteries provided for the people. Add that to the fact every town in New England, the bastion of England away from England, has a Poor Farm Road where the poor farm used to be-poor people were considered too inferior to live in the town with the good people, so they were collected and put in the poor farm-and it seems as if our governments have never done a very good job of caring for the poor or the infirmed, mainly because they weren't considered worthy of help I'm glad to see the vaccinations being made available to everyone, as you said, regardless of their ability to pay.

Somehow I've strained a back muscle and I'm wearing a brace now. I really don't do heavy lifting at work, but my co-workers have commented that it could happen with all the reaching I have to do. (I have a rack of boxes that larger orders go into, and it's way taller than me, so I frequently am stretching to put items in these boxes.)
I was just easing into my workout routine, too. Guess that has to wait a bit longer.

What a nuisance, I really hope it settles down soon. Are you able to ease off the stretching while it heals, or just bracing up and soldiering on?
Last week I was stretching up to reach something (it happens more often when you're taller than average!) and someone warned me to watch my back - before that I hadn't thought of that being a risky move, I always think about lifting as being the thing to watch. But with you saying this now, I'll be on more mindful.

Good thing you have a brace to wear. Back problems are no fun. I hope you figure out what caused the strain, and can approach that part of your routine a little differently. Nothing worse than a back problem.

I was okay until cage cleaning today. Then pretty much out of nowhere it started to ache horribly. I might have worsened it. I'm limping around the house, trying to get chores done and go to sleep soon.
I just want to get through this. I've never had back problems before, and to start having them now is concerning.

I hope a good sleep resets you. Are you having to take pain killers or is it okay with the back brace most of the time?

I hope a good sleep resets you. Are you having to take pain killers or is it okay with the back brace most of the time? I'm taking painkillers just in case along with the back brace. Today was actually okay. I woke up dreading the possibility that I was still messed up, and I moved around the house very gingerly. Had a twinge or two, but after I put the brace on and took the painkillers, I was okay when I got to work. I keep my activity reasonable and I don't do much when I get home. My plan is to let things settle and see if I'm better in a few weeks.

I think that's a good plan. Once you get back problems, they tend to return, so learning to do the job less destructively is a really good idea. I hope you see some marked improvement really soon.

I think I'll probably just wear the brace at work from now on, regardless of how better my back feels. I'm hoping to do some physical activity later this year and can't risk hurting my back, so I need to take it easy. (My buddy Ken wants to try indoor skydiving, and I'm up for it as long as my health is good.)

I've seen that, it looks fun!
I hope it's not too long before you feel able to start some gentle exercise - both for getting fit for that and also general physical health. It's a catch-22 situation when the things we need to do to stay strong and avoid injury/ strain cause us the very symptoms we're trying to avoid!

That does sound like fun. I knew a lot of people who wore the braces to work just to help the muscles. They swore by the braces.
