Oh no, that's horrible news. I'm so sad for you. I hope the vet can help and your other guineas are safe ❤️

I love this forum because to me it shows that guinea pigs are not just for kids...as it's often advertised. Great starter pet etc. I got my first guinea pig when I was 39 and you're 61. I just think it's so awesome. You're going to love those little dudes :-). <3

The c&c cages are just grids you put together, but if you can make something else yourself, that's great too. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures. I didn't (my guinea pigs passed away) wash the towels more than once a week. I had two towels under the fleece and just changed the fleece everyday. As long as the top layer is dry, the pigs should be fine.

1. I hav a cat and she doesn't care about the guinea pigs at all, but I would get a top for your cage for sure, just in case your cat is really curious. 2. I used fleece over towels and it worked great. I would change the fleece everyday (or at least shake off all the poos) and wash it all and clean the cage every week. More if the cage is small. 3 somebody else will be better at answering this, but I had a male and a female (spayed) and it was great. Two males can be a problem, but I think two girls would work well. 4. Have you looked into c&c cages? They're easy to make and I think cheaper than a store bought one. You can make them as big as you want, with levels and dividers etc.
Good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the piggies 😀

Luckily I don't have many spiders in my apartment, because they really freak me out. The ones I do find, I try to catch in a glass and then I put them outside. I can't kill them either and why should they die, just because I don't like them?

Oh my god, what a tough week for you. As much as I just can't handle the thought of having a tarantula as a pet, because I'm terrified of spiders, I can understand what it's like to lose a pet, no matter what type of pet. I'm really sorry for your loss. 😢 I had no idea they lived that long, but it sounds like she was loved and will be missed!! That name though... it's awesome 😀

Aww, that's a sad story about Dakota. Luckily we live and learn and 10 piggies later, I'm sure you're an expert now ☺️ We always beat ourselves up about all the things we should have done, but we do the best we can with what we know at the time. The vet should definitely have given you more information. It's a lot of work to make a book, but I enjoy it and you do have lots of laughs looking at all the silly things your pets have done.

Two decades of pictures...wow, that would be a lot of work. I'm working on a cat book right now and I have a ridiculous number of cat pictures. I do find though, you don't have as many when you go back to the film camera days, so maybe when you get back far enough, it will be a little easier. Thanks for all the compliments. I'm really happy I made it 😀

I got my photo book this week and I am really happy with it. I can't help crying though when I look at it. So many good memories, but so much sadness too. I miss those little guys <3 I have taken a few pictures of some of the pages so you can see how it looks. I put in the cards I got from the vet when I lost both Mila and Melvin and a poem about rainbow bridge on the last page. On one page you can see my cat looking at Melvin. He was obsessed with Melvin when I first brought him home, but never tried to hurt him. I had a small cage when I first got him, but I got smarter and got a larger cage and later on a C&C cage :-) Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted
