Thanks Katie and Lee Anne. So lovely Lee Anne that you sponsor a Polar Bear for your John. Do you get updates in the post about the polar bear? My camera arrived and I'm really looking forward to using it. I have an extra battery too and the memory card is very large so that's great. Oh sorry, I just now saw this.... Yes, they send me progress reports a few times a year and some pictures. I also get invited to special events- like a few years back, we got to take a behind the scenes tour and go with the zoo keepers and see all the things (like how they prepare their meals & treats)and meet the people that are responsible for caring for the polar bears. It was really cool. ;D
Lee Anne & all the boys
ps...so glad you got an extra battery---that means even MORE pigtures/pictures...

Thanks Donna, Katie, Live and Lee Ann. Hope you get to go Livie. Lee Ann, oh how nice they send you progress reports of John's adopted Polar Bear. Do you have any pictures.? I think Chester Zoo has dates for members to see behind the scene which I'm sure I'd love. I did take more video's than pictures and will upload them to my youtube and post links but meanwhile here are a few pictures I took with my new camera. I still need to learn what it can do. Mr.Duck, the water really was this colour. These animals are called Vicunas and I've grown very fond of them as I love how they charge around following each other or rolling on the ground. A close up, can't you tell they are related to the Camel. A Wallaby, she was a bit far away so had to use the zoom.

your new camera is fantastic clover, it is crystal clear and the colours are very vivid indeed. my favourite picture is the 3rd one down. the vicunas look very much like alpacas, do you know if they are related? xx

I love the colours too Donna The video footage is also so clear in colour, not grey looking at all so far. I've just looked up alpacas and they are related to the camel family like the Vicunas. They are lovely. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpaca

Thanks for that Clover, The picture of the alpaca in the link made me chuckle. it is so fluffy. The ones i have seen have been clippered, as they use the wool for clothing same as sheep. xx

He was fluffy wasn't he lol Here's a few my daughter Kathy took, she really has a good eye for taking pictures. Pumba lol Lovely Otters, they actually stood still long enough for a clear picture, they are so quick. This gorgeous monkey was being groomed by another, he looked so relaxed as you can see lol Those cheeky Marmots again, so adorable. and the same Wallaby but showing her cute little mouth. I've posted a couple of video's in my video thread but I think they would play better on youtube so will try to upload them soon.

Oh those are really great shots! Your daughter does have a good eye for taking pictures! I'm not sure I've ever seen a Pumba before? He's kind of a odd looking thing! He looks like he is a jumbled up roll of Horse, Mule, Shetland Pony and Hippo, then tossed with a lump of Rhino! lol Am I missing anything? lol Of course he is adorable, sort of reminds me of Treen! Aww!

LoL, Val... a Pumba.... I believe it is actually a warthog, but Pumba was the name of the warthog in Disney's The Lion King. That made me giggle.

Oops! LOL! I did not know that! Now that you say it's a warthog, it's no wonder I thought it reminded of Treen! lol I guess you could tell right away that I have not seen Disney's The Lion King! I should be a shamed of myself too!...I'm a gramma! Voodoo Val x x

Lucky you seeing the red panda. They have a pair at Belfast Zoo and I always rush round to see them but they hardly ever come out. I've seen one of them once and I can't believe how high they can climb.
