I went to Paignton Zoo last year and they have black rhinos. Was lucky enough to see one of the babies. They say all rhinos are endangered so it was lovely to see a baby.

Aww I bet it was lovely seeing the baby especially knowing the little one is helping with their numbers. They have two female black Rhino's at Chester, when I next visit, will ask if they are going to get a male. Just found this very interesting page about the Zoo. www.goodzoos.com/UK%20Zoos/chester.htmIt says eleven miles of tarmac pathways, no wonder my feet ache by the end of the day lol but just love it and know my way around now. I could be an animal tour guide lol I've already helped one family out when they were looking for the Meerkats lol It really is a shame that zoo officials have tried and tried to get them to breed in captivity but have failed. Our tour guide said that the male and female that the park has are now quite old and will not be able to produce offspring. That is very sad Val. I hope this makes you smile, I was searching through some video's and found footage of the one horned rhino's, they are both male and female.

When we go to Longleat again I am going to pay more attention to which rhinos they have.
I know what you mean about being a tour guide - I'm the same at Belfast Zoo - I don't even get the maps anymore.

Jackie, I can't help but chuckle about you going down to your zoo and telling them they need to go get a male for their females! lol I some how can picture you in my mind's eye shaking your finger at them and yelling "Chop Chop! Now go get that male I say!" lol Jackie, I have a feeling we are all now crossing the line into becoming match makers for RHINO'S. Oooh, love is in the air! Can't wait to see what newpig does when she goes to her zoo next time!

Hi Val, I think I've seen your recent updates in the thread but will make sure I read it from the begining as I love anything to do with wildlife, well maybe not anything with more than 4 legs lol I decided to make a little Chester Zoo site of my own, just showing my pictures and videos and some links. Here is the link. Jackie's Chester Zoo Site www.jackiesguineapiggies.com/chesterzooindex.htmlAll the links work but I've not added it to my main site yet. Hope you like it, can you tell me what you think, any suggestions would be great. For the photo's I've added a manuel slideshow but also added larger pics for anyone wanting a desktop wallpaper.I'll be updating it alot but will still add my pics and videos here too. Here are some more pictures from my last visit. Really pleased with some of these pictures. Deer Peacock Giraffe Cheetah. I had to use the zoom to maximum but its fairly clear. Muscovy Duck, just love this beautiful duck. I have a video and will post it soon. Baby Giraffe. Deer Will post videos soon

Here are a couple of other pics of the deer in mid chew. It was definatly a day for chewing lol here is a black rhino enjoying her pretend, upside down pipe These little piggies are called Warty pigs, not a very flattering name but mum and babies were very cute. I have a video of one of the babies coming close, I must upload it soon. A beautiful female Mallard

Here is a video of a Visayan Warty Pig mum with her babies. One baby comes up close and another plays with a stick. Sadly The Visayan Warty Pig is a critically endangered species of pig. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yr6y-NzyZcQAnd the herd of Giraffes being fed, watch out for the big Giraffe, well extra big lol at the end, so cute. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jSQLxF3gNVIAnd my favourite duck at the Zoo, a Muscovy duck having a bath. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lPCv76Nbw4AI have a video of one of the female black rhinos chewing a stick but it has a noisy background so I might put music to it if I can think of something.

Jackie I completely missed all these latest pictures and videos! Don't know how that happened? Oh well, I'm here now. First off, I love the Jackie's Chester Zoo Site! You have been very busy putting it all together. It really is an amazing job you have done. I think you really do need to go work there. Anyone who has taken as much interest in their zoo deserves to be rewarded with a paycheck. They would be lucky to have you as it is clear you have a great love for ALL animals. All your pictures are just fantastic. You are a great photographer. I especially love the Warty pigs. How cute those babies look with their striped markings. I would assume it is to camouflage them in the wild? How long do they keep those markings? They are so cute. They remind me of the pot belly pigs that some folks over here keep as house pets. I still have not gone to our San Diego Zoo with my grandchildren but still plan on doing so. Legoland won out instead as that is where they wanted gramma Val to take them last time they stayed with me. lol

Thanks very much Val, glad you liked my chester zoo site, really enjoyed working on it and will keep updating it. I would bite their hand off if they offered me a job lol Hope you get to go to your Zoo soon and that legoland comes second next time lol Here are some photos taken last week. I'm not going as much at the moment because they are in their busy season, will be much quieter in September. Greater Vasa Parrot having a snack Congo Buffalo Okapi, can't you tell they are related to the Giraffe? Sitatunga Red River Hog Family of Scimitar-Horned Oryx And a white duck who lives with the Muscovy duck A couple of video's A baby bull elephant who always seems to be in the centre of any play fights, he really is a cute little fella. He was born at the Zoo and happened to be born on my birthday too. Here he rolls in the mud then picks a play fight with his bigger friend uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4p5Fylyt0_g3 Meerkats playing but one wants to catch the sun so isn't best pleased at being disturbed lol uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WZnY6WhpzJY

How cute those Meerkats are! I just love the clicking sounds that they make. It's funny how the one just wants to be left alone to sunbath but his buddies are not letting him enjoy some 'alone time'. Wonder if that is mummy and her nagging children? lol The duck picture is priceless! So tell me Jackie, as you were taking those pictures of that beautiful duck, and she stuck her rear end up in the air at you....were your feelings hurt? lol Sorry, but that's funny! I think she told you off? lol

Beautiful pictures and some more great videos Jackie. I've really enjoyed seeing all of them and really want to visit Chester Zoo now. We passed signs for it on the way home to the ferry from our hols and would have loved to have had time to stop.
