Surgery postponed for a week due to the availability of the exotics vet surgeon. Not our usual favourite vet this time as she's pregnant which means she can't do surgery. Given the lump's not nasty, I'm not worried about the delay and it actually works out well because I need to be away for a couple of days that week so the threesome can stay at the vets then and I'll be home to collect them after the surgery

Sounds like it will all work out well - glad the lump turned out to be nothing sinister.
Looking forward to seeing those pics of the boys and their new cage!

I'm waiting in for a parcel today so have had time to upload the photos from the camera. More hay, of course... The boys are difficult to get pictures of because they're still quite scaredy of anything except a bowl of veg! Will keep trying to get some better ones but here they are to keep you going for now And there lovely big new cage And the rest - yin and yang, Rory and Winnie, the old married couple And Macy, the mad one! Blimey Photobucket is a faff, hope these pics work...

Aww the boys are gorgeous - they totally remind me of my Cadders! He was quite shy too but although he's not reached Josh's levels of bolshiness, he's so much more confident now and is a total snuggle monster.
That's such a sweet picture of Rory and Winnie! And Macy just has the best 'do' ever!
Good work weesilvie, and the cage is marvellous too! Wish I had room to do that for my boys, although they seem content with a smaller cage and frequent access to the living room. They'd all but stopped even doing a dot of wee out of the cage, but spent last weekend elsewhere as we were away. On returning and having their first venture out, they felt the need to reestablish their scent! My floors are wipe clean so it's not like it ever stays long, but it was interesting how a few days somewhere else got them doing it again!

I have had the cages in carpeted rooms since we moved here. Noy my choice of flooring. I would prefer solid surface around the cages. Vacs don't handle hay well.

Mine is okay with it (it's a Miele - best hoover I've ever had, it has even coped with a few rounds of building work) but we do go through more hoover bags because I'm too lazy to sweep up first!

Haha we have two hoovere one cleaning up piggy and one for rest of house. The vax does well one hay but don't use my dyson for hay. It clogs up a lot more and the cost of a new dyson if I break it is more then I can afford right now. We have laminate in the room the piggies are but will be changing to carpet it next couple of weeks, so it's a good job they are going outside for the summer :-)

Our vaccy tends to get blocked up with hay on a regular basis, if I feel like it i will sweep up first but sometimes no, so I know what you mean Bean love LOL!!

I have the Dyson animal (purple). It does a decent job if I sweep first. Even our shop vac clogs with the long pieces of hay.

I take the head off my Dyson to hoover up the longer bits of hay before putting it back on to hoover up the rest. Otherwise I have a job with a crochet hook picking hay out of the head! Seems to work.
I noticed Macy's ears were full of mank the other day so had to give them a clean. I warmed through a mixture of water and olive oil and wiped them out with cotton wool pads. Then I put some GG lotion round the edges where the mank had been stuck. I'll keep an eye on her ears to make sure they stay clean, otherwise we'll be off to the vets yet again!

We need a Dyson really, it seems to be the only one that does a good job.

Good notice on the ears! I take the head off the Dyson, too. Lets me get into small spaces.

It's my washing machine that's the problem. Blocked on Friday, guess what? Hay from the fleeces and I thought I had swept them all! Hubby was going mad again, but if don't listen to him, ha! ha!. Anyway, I was them by hand in the drink then just spin them in the machine...I'll see how it goes

I use a stiff bristle brush and a hand vac. That way I get the most hair and hay off before washing. I also took the fleece out of the kitchen area, where the hay holder us. The fiberglass screen is soft enough to not bother their feet, and when I can't get it clean anymore, I just relace it.
