Hey all. Photobucket has a new editer thingy and I've no idea how big the photos I've got there are now and after the first one, it stopped resizing them for me today. So I'm just going to post some and see how it goes. If they're too big, I'll remove them and try again... My sister's new kitten Rufus - he's soooo cool! And the lovely Silvie too, of course Believe it or not, I did not plant this - she willingly sat next to stuffed cat Tom and allowed me to take a photo!

Aw, love Rufus. How could I not!!! Cats will sit where you want them to, and do what you want them to, just not when you want them to. So that was her decision, not yours!!!

Feeling sad. My Dad just phoned - they had to get Maisie PTS She was about 20 years old. If you look at the first page of this thread, she's one of the black and white kittens in the bottom photo at the bottom of the page - the asymmetrical one at the back. She was a proper old maid - a bit stiff and rickety with arthritis and her fur had seen better days but she was w lovely cat. Dad, his missis and Andy (their other cat) will miss her. Dad commented that Maisie had been around nearly a quarter of his life - that's white a feat as he's 83! RIP and sleep well Maisie cat.

Oh, how sad. It's a blessing to have a pet that long, but it makes it that much harder when they go.

I'm so sorry. My last cat was just shy of 20 when he died. Old and slow, it's still hard to say good bye. Hugs!!!

Thanks folks You're right, the longer they've been around, the more you get used to them just always being there and the harder it is to accept when they're not. But she had a great life with my dad - he's always lived out in the sticks, good cat country! Rufus the kitten is poorly today so I'm picking my sister and him up shortly for a trip to the vet. Always on a bank holiday...

Update - Rufus has a 'high temperature of unidentified origin'. So he's had a couple of jabs and is now a bit sleepy with the drugs but starting to regain his bounce

I'm sure he'll be fine, he's a tough little fella. Just one of those things that kittens get! He has apparently regained his appetite and his bounce, even though still a bit sleepy in between

Superkitten is much better, thanks Apparently he spent most of the night annoying Merlin who in turn spent most of the night complaining loudly - which kept my sister awake!

Rufus has amazed my sister by eating his antibiotic pills along with his dinner - I've never known a cat do that before, its always been a proper performance getting pills into them! Anyway, he seems to be perfectly better now Silvie was off to the vet yesterday too but just for her six monthly check up. I'm pleased to say that the vet said she was looking fantastic She also got her annual blood test - to check her organ function because she's on Metacam and also her thyroid levels. The vet took blood from her arm instead of her neck this time. Apparently the neck is better as the veins are much less likely to bruise or swell. But Silvie wasn't having it! The vet put a wee compression bandage on her arm where they'd taken the blood, just to prevent any swelling. When I got her home and she got out of the carrier, she gave that leg a good hard shake with every step she took to try and get the bandage off! I don't like to mock the afflicted but I couldn't help but laugh - she looked so funny! Thankfully she only had to keep it on for a couple of hours and was more than happy to let me take it off for her! Poor Silvie...

Oh the little Sweetie. I know what you mean about pills. With our kitties and doggies in the past we have tended to put a pill in a lump of meat, and they eat every chunk but that one LOL!!Doggies are not usually so bad to give pills to but kitties, it takes the two of us.
I hope she is much better today love.
