I'm so sorry to hear about Mimi. It's really heart breaking to lose a pet, so I feel for you.

I used to use this "hamster fluff" I think it was called. It sounds similar to what you're talking about. My one guinea pig never ate it, but recently I introduced it to my other guinea pig and I caught her eating it. I'm not sure if its ok, so I removed it. I'm curious to know if it's actually ok for them to eat or not.

When I got my Mila guinea pig, she didn't eat much either. Somebody told me to drape a towel over part of her cage (mini c&c while quarantined), so she would feel safer and it really seemed to work. I would give her food and leave her alone and later when I checked on her, the food was gone. Maybe you can give it a try. Your little guy is probably just still very insecure about his new place, but I sure hope he starts eating soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that Neeko passed away. I'm glad though, that you were able to be with him when it happened.

I'm really curious to know how Neeko is doing? I hope you got him to the vet and he is feeling better now. Please keep us posted on what's happening with him.

It's so sad to hear that Twix had passed away. I bought a guinea pig too from a pet store, because I was new to guinea pigs and wasn't really aware that it's better to adopt. I adopted my second pig from an animal shelter though. I don't really believe in breeding any animals for money, but since Brownie was already there, why shouldn't you buy him and give him a good home. My second pig was very scared too when I brought her home and it took her a while to come around. She wouldn't come out and eat until she was alone, so I just picked her up a few times a day, sat with her and petted her. When the quarantine was over and she was introduced to my other guinea pig, she was like a different pig. They were both so happy. She is still not quite as trusting as my first one, but we are working on it. I hope everything works out with Brownie and Tador.

Butt dunk..haha...that's a good name, because it's kind of what it turns into when I try to wash Melvin. He actually will jump out of the sink.
Anyway, I normally use shampoo, but it makes sense what you (3piggles) said about the oils, so from now on I will just use water and maybe I can give him a bum bath more often that way, if he needs it. Thanks.

My male guinea pig Melvin seems to get a sticky/wet bum quite often. I have to wash his butt once in a while, because it just gets to dirty and smelly, but how often should I do this? I don't wash his whole body, but just his bum and since he has longer hair, I have also trimmed it a bit, so he doesn't drag it through his own pee.

I have a light tent for photograhy and I put them in there. It's fairly small, so there's not too many places they can go. The hard part is to get them to actually face to the camera, but it's fun and I only do it for maybe 5 minutes at the time. Treats help too :-)

I just had a little guinea pig photo shoot of Melvin and Mila. Mila wasn't impressed, but once Melvin joined her and there was a treat involved, she seemed to be ok. Melvin Mila is wondering what's going on Ohhh..a snack....take all the pictures you want

I also just got one guinea pig and I thought he seemed fine, but the more I read about it, the more I realized he needed a friend. As I said, he seemed fine being alone, but when I got a second pig I saw the difference. He is so much more active and they both seem happier. I really recommend that you get Fynn a friend.

Is there anything cuter than a little guinea pig mouth? I love the picture of Jackson just before he heard the seagull.
