Lovely trio! Sadly, the weather here is on the cool side with lots of (light) showers - not enough to help with the drought.

Did the tech say anything about back teeth? It sounds very much like a classic botch job by somebody who hasn't got a clue what he is about and creates even more problems.
You can see and feel for molars yourself. Gently clean the mouth pouches with a cotton bud and then feel around with it - the sides of the mouth should be fairly even and not have any hard outcrops.

Mites and fungus can often be very hard to disguinguish. Both can cause sores. Fungus often appears by the ears and the face first, but by no means only! The antibiotics will help with any infection of the open sores, but so should a disinfectant, soothing gel like aloe vera. If I were you, I would treat for both, mites and fungal. Do not give any fungal bath within 48 hours of applying any spot on treatment. Bathe the face and ear area only with the suds, never with the shampoo itself. You can find ivermectin if you google for a supplier of xeno 450 (they have it on UK amazon, so I suppose they may have it on the US version, too), provided your piggy is over 800g. Otherwise you need to look for xeno 50. I would also strongly recommend getting Nizoral shampoo from your pharmacy as recommended on guinealynx and give a bath every 3 days for the first couple of rounds and then weekly. Make a chart of when to bathe and when to treat for mites. You will need at least three rounds of ivermectin, spaced 10-14 days apart in order to catch all the eggs in the skin. www.guinealynx.info/fungus.html

Are you sure that the back teeth (molars) are OK??? Has your vet checked them properly or just treated the front teeth? Front teeth should normally be self sharpening; they only can't do that if the back teeth themselves are overgrown or if the front teeth are not aligned properly. Front teeth always look too long, especially the bottom teeth. Most tooth trouble is due to problems with molars that have grown spurs when they are not ground down evenly when chewing. www.guinealynx.info/malocclusion.html

Thats what I've been doing. I can't wait to get her either. So lofts DO count. Someone told me they don't. Hmm.....One cage I dea I have is 12 sq. feet not including the 1 by 2 loft. So that's 14 sq. feet total! I'll post a picture once I create it...so probably tomorrow. Can't wait to get the new girl!! She's very cute, if I do say so myself. Haha!! Thanks ya'll With bigger groups you can include any sizeable spaces on another floor, provided that at least one floor has plenty of space to run around in.

Make sure to give them a good meal before you set out, so they will be full and sleepy for a good deal of the drive and you do not need to worry if they prefer not to eat while underway - many piggies don't. Give a very few fresh cucumber, celery, carrot or bell pepper pieces whenever you stop; most veg are mainly water anyway! Have some hay in the carrier for them to relax and nibble on.
If you can, change their bedding daily; it will be filthy by the end of the day.

I am sorry that Momo is still a problem. Considering how badly Mia has been bullied by her sister, I wouldn't put them together again on a permanent base in the near future.
Best of luck with your heat wave. I am still waiting for any significant amount of water to fall on my lawn and garden since February!

Our new vacuum is very loud, so the piggies don't like when I hoover the room. But you certainly don't want Momo climbing the grids!!!

I am glad that Cocoa and Api are getting on now; Api will probably take over one day when she is adult, but will look after Coco.
Best of luck for your sister's birth and oyur search for a dog!

Hi! I am sorry to hear of your struggles and that Stanley had to move out. I hope that he is happy in his new home with piggy company.
Hopefully, you can have more time together again!
Val has sadly not been around for ages, but Laurie is still here!

Welcome to family life with pets! Just adjust the amount of veg you're giving! PS: While my hub will ignore the pigs when I'm present, I catch him regularly chatting to the piggies behind my back!

I am very sorry that your school has such a benighted approach, but glad that you are doing your best to make sure that the animals are OK. My question is - is mummy pregnant again and has she been with a male during and immediately after birth? Due to their unusually long pregnancies with so well developed pups (so the babies can keep up with the roaming lifestyle of the herd), guinea pigs are at a much greater risk of things going wrong for mothers as well as for pups, and back-to-back pregnancies as well as pregnancies when the pups are very young will increase the risk of death or permanent damage to the mum and pups significantly. Please sex your pups as soon as you can and separate out any male pups at the three weeks old so that you avoid any accidental pregnancy of mum and sisters (girls can get pregnant from 4 weeks onwards!) www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm

What a lovely group! I also have found that the old bonds don't break when you add new piggies.
Good news that you are starting to get somewhere with Maggie. With some piggies it is a very slow process, but patience and persistence will eventually pay off!
